Rajkumar Bharathi is a classical singer and music composer from Chennai, India. He is the great grandson of the renaissance poet Subramania Bharathi. Rajkumar’s illustrious mentors and legendary gurus include his mother Lalitha Bharathi, Valliyur Gurumurthi, M. Balamuralikrishna, and T. V. Gopalakrishnan. A recipient of numerous distinctions and awards Including the Sangeeth Natak Akademy Music for Dance Award in 2015, Rajkumar’s music reflects knowledge, imagination, and aesthetic presentation. With a firm foundation in music, literature, and science, Rajkumar remains one of India’s most prolific and influential composers and artists of the modern era. Even after decades of creative exploration, Rajkumar Bharathi remains curious, engaging, and diverse.

Rajkumar Bharathi was introduced to Malathi Iyengar by her guru Narmada in 1991. Rajkumar’s journey as a music composer for dance began in 1992 when he came to Los Angeles to sing for Malathi Iyengar’s Arangetram & concerts organized by Rangoli Foundation. During this visit, he composed a beautiful Jatiswaram in Raga Shanmukhapriya set to Mishrachapu Tala. In addition to scoring music for numerous full-length productions, Rajkumar Bharathi continued to compose a vast collection of Pushpanjalis, Thillanas, Jatiswarams, Varnams, devotional songs, Pallavi, Bhajans, & Mangalams for Rangoli performances and choreographers and dance companies worldwide.
