Shriya Kashyap

Shriya Kashyap, a young 14-year-old dancer has been studying Bharatanatyam under the guidance of guru Malathi Iyengar for over five years. She presented her solo dance debut in 2024, marking an important milestone in her Bharatanatyam journey. Since then, she has continued her training with an increasing focus on both expressive dance (abhinaya) and technique. She has also presented impressive performances both in India and Los Angeles.

Shriya joined the Rangoli Dance Company in the performance of ‘Moksha’, a 40th Anniversary celebration staged and choreographed by artistic directors Malathi Iyengar & Lakshmi Iyengar in 2025.
Shriya is an 8th grade student at the Los Cerritos Middle School in Thousand Oaks, California, where she is an Honor Roll student and a member of the school’s Advanced Choir.
Through continued practice and performances, Shriya seeks to deepen her understanding of Bharatanatyam and present this classical art form with sincerity and respect for its tradition.

Malathi Iyengar & Rangoli Dance Company

Drawing from the myth and spirituality of south Indian heritage, Malathi Iyengar creates dance landscapes that dwell in both traditional and secular, and rhythm and stillness. The dances convey a sense of reverence & mystery and are offered in the spirit of universal celebration. Iyengar established Rangoli Foundation for Art & culture in 1985 to share performing and visual arts of India. The company features the vibrant south Indian dance form ‘Bharatanatyam’ through strong technique and storytelling. Bharatanatyam is a classical Indian dance form that originated in the temples of South India.

Iyengar is the recipient of the 2013 C.O.L.A Choreography Fellowship from the City of Los Angeles and the 2010 Lester Horton Award for Outstanding Achievement in World Dance for her choreography ‘Shivaya’. Iyengar is a recipient of numerous awards for her choreographic works and is recognized as a Master Artist of Bharatanatyam dance by the Alliance for California Traditional Artists. Rangoli Foundation has been honored with Certificates of Resolution by Los Angeles County Arts Commission and City of Los Angeles Department of Cultural Affairs.
