Beyond the Rangoli Stage will offer a window into the professional lives of Rangoli dancers and their parents. Each episode will focus on a different speaker, providing a multifaceted view of how the worlds of classical dance, career, and family life intersect, inspire, and influence one another.

Guest speaker Dr. Anuradha Rao Pappu, mother of Rangoli dancers Aarti Rao and Anisha Rao, will be joining us.

Born in Kolkata, India, Dr Anuradha Rao Pappu has always paired academic excellence with a profound dedication to medicine. After ranking 5th in her state’s joint entrance exams, she attended the prestigious Calcutta Medical College before moving to California. A true pioneer, she was one of the first two women admitted to the Gastroenterology fellowship program at the USC Medical Center.

With a distinguished 40-year career in medicine, 30 of those as a practicing gastroenterologist, she remains deeply passionate about her field. Dr Pappu is a Gastroenterology specialist practicing at the Kaiser Hospital in Panorama City.

Beyond the clinic, she is an avid reader and traveler who finds solace in the arts. Though her own childhood dance training was cut short, she remains a staunch advocate for classical art forms as a "safe haven" in a chaotic world. To that end, she has proudly supported her daughters, Aarti and Anisha, in their pursuit of Bharatanatyam dance and classical music.
